Founded in 1927, Western Seminary has held an
uncompromising commitment to train Christians to guide and strengthen God’s
Church, transforming the world with His Gospel. Our students become pastors,
counselors, chaplains, coaches, educators, and missionaries who are marked
by ministry effectiveness and profound love for Jesus.
We’re a theologically conservative graduate school that promotes true innovation and humility
in ministry practice. The Bible is God’s inerrant Word and we set it at the center of our curriculum
in the belief that faith and practice must be driven by principled interpretation and integration
of the Scriptures. Our faculty is made up of practitioners who teach out of this conviction, drawing
from years of experience to equip their students.

Convenient course scheduling allows students to train in the midst of family, career, and ministry
commitments without the need to relocate. Some study online using our custom built Integr@te system,
while others train at campuses in Portland, San Jose, and Sacramento. Some will do both. We’re
always looking for new ways to train people who aren’t waiting for graduation day to get
involved in ministry. And we offer merit-based and need-based financial aid to make seminary training
more affordable.

Nothing changes lives like the Gospel. More than just salvation, it promises to transform the
way that we spend lives in service to the Lord. This is why the Gospel is at the core of curriculum
in all Western classes—not only Bible or theology classes. Our students become part of a
movement to restoring the Gospel to a place of centrality in the churches and communities where
they serve.
