American River College does not extend borrowing privileges to people
who are not enrolled in the Los Rios Community College District. Western students may use the
CSUS gives library cards to community borrowers who live in the Sacramento
area and show a valid photo I.D. and a second proof of address (check, utility bill, car registration).
Community Borrowers may check out 5 items at a time. Fees range from $25 for 3 months to $75
for one year.
Community borrowers can obtain borrowing privileges by becoming a Friend
of the Library for $30 each semester. Books from this library can also be obtained through the
Sacramento Public Library using interlibrary loan.
Community borrowers can borrow Folsom Lake College resources by becoming
Friends of the Library. Regular membership is $30 per year. FLC alumni pay $15 per year.
Residents of California may purchase a Community Patron borrowing
card. To purchase a card, bring a picture ID that states your California address. Community
Patron cards cost $40 for three months, $80 for six months, or $145 for 12 months.
Members of the community may purchase a Special Borrowers Card ($30
per year) that will allow them limited borrowing privileges (does not include Inter Library
Loan). Without the Special Borrowers card, members of the community may still use library materials
within the library, including the public-access computers if available (students have priority)
Any person who maintains a permanent address in California may apply
for a Sacramento Public Library card. There is no fee to acquire a card. To obtain a card, please
fill out an application at any Sacramento Public Library location. All applicants must show
proof of address and provide an ID number from one of the following: California Drivers License,
California ID, Matricula Consular, Military ID, Passport, or Resident Alien card.
One card is
issued per person and may be used at any Sacramento Public Library
location, as well as libraries in Colusa County , the city of Folsom, Sutter County , and the
city of Woodland .
Library cards have two-year expiration dates and may be renewed at any Sacramento
Public Library location. There is no fee to renew your card.
Community borrowers can borrow Sierra College resources by becoming
Friends of the Library. Regular membership is $35 per year.
Library cards will be issued to unaffiliated individuals for $100/yr.,
but they do not provide access to all library services or materials. Unaffiliated borrowers
are limited to 5 circulating items at one time and must show a valid California driver's license
or another photo ID and proof of a California mailing address (e.g., a utility bill in the applicant's
name) when applying for privileges.
Unaffiliated borrowers may not check out journals or periodicals,
or use interlibrary loan, nor do they have off-site access to licensed
Prospective borrowers may wish to consider joining the Library Associates.
Annual membership is $55.00. Members of Library Associates may borrow
up to 10 items at one time. Information and applications are available at library circulation
Community borrowers can obtain access to the UNR collection by joining
the Friends of the Library. The fee is $25 per year for Nevada residents and $50 per year for
The main library at University of the Pacific offers 400,000 books
and 4,000 journals. Community members may use the library for a $50 annual fee.
Nevada residents and California residents who live in El Dorado,
Lassen, Placer, Plumas, Nevada, or Sierra counties may apply for a library card. There is no
fee to acquire a card.
Western Seminary Sacramento students may purchase a special borrower’s card ($50 per semester)
that will allow limited borrowing privileges.
