Counseling Program Launches New Online Option
Feb. 10, 2025
Western Seminary is pleased to announce it is launching an online option for its Master of Arts in Counseling program. The first cohort of students will begin meeting in the summer of 2025.
“We are excited to begin offering this online pathway for our counseling degree program,” says Rachel Heffield, PhD, Chair, Center for Personal and Spiritual Formation. “This will allow access to those who may be limited in their ability to travel back and forth from campus.”
The cohorts will meet for three years and journey through the same classes together. Students will complete eight credits per semester, mostly via synchronous web conference. Each summer, students will travel to Portland to complete a one-week residency on our Portland campus.
Western is currently accepting applications for summer 2025. For more information about the program, join us at an upcoming Office Hours Zoom Call with Western faculty and staff on Fridays at 12:30 p.m. PT. You may also request info to connect with our admissions team.
The mission of Western’s counseling degree program is to equip practitioners of personal integrity and spiritual maturity who will provide effective, ethical, culturally inclusive, and professional counseling from a Christian worldview. The program is CACREP-accredited and prepares Christian counselors to practice in clinical mental health counseling settings, nonprofit organizations, or church and parachurch organizations.
