Resting in a Never-changing God
Laura Joachim, MA in Counseling, '22
“Change. We live in a world where there is constant change. Some change leads to great good and other change we despise. In the midst of all this change, my time here at Western has reminded me that my savior Jesus Christ never changes.
As a counselor, we sit with people in their brokenness. People who desire to see changes in their lives. Knowing that there is a God who never changes, whose promises will remain faithful, equips me to sit with people in an ever changing world.
As I continue to trust the process of entering the field of counseling, I know that my never changing God will continue to direct me and lead me as I walk alongside others in their changing process.
At the beginning of this counseling program, I was told to ‘trust the process.’ In other words, take one step at a time, and you will be where you need to be. As I continue to trust the process of entering the field of counseling, I know that my never changing God will continue to direct me and lead me as I walk alongside others in their changing process.
I am thankful for the ways Western has prepared us to enter this field and I’m looking forward to the next steps. After teaching for 15 years, I am excited to be opening up a private practice in the Gresham area where I will be working with children and adults.”
